The BRAINTEASER Community of Practice, a collaborative space for individuals affected by multiple sclerosis (MS) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), as well as their clinicians, caregivers, researchers, and the general public, is pleased to announce its second webinar titled “Living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.”
ALS, commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease after the famed baseball player who brought attention to the condition, is a progressive and debilitating neurodegenerative disorder. This disease not only profoundly impacts individuals diagnosed with it but also reverberates throughout their families, friends, and caregivers. As the disease progresses, individuals with ALS often require increasing levels of support and care to maintain their quality of life. Moreover, the emotional and psychological toll on both patients and their loved ones cannot be overstated, as they navigate the challenges and uncertainties associated with living with a condition for which there is currently no cure.
Despite the immense hardships, the ALS community remains resilient, advocating for greater awareness, improved treatments, and enhanced support systems to empower those affected by this relentless disease.
This BRAINTEASER CoP webinar features distinguished experts and representatives of patients. It aims to delve into ALS diagnosis, personalised medicine, symptomatic treatments, non-pharmacological interventions, psychosocial support for patients and caregivers, and a firsthand account of living with ALS. Each speaker brings expertise from different fields to provide a comprehensive understanding of managing and supporting individuals affected by ALS.
